PRICING
You should have a full discussion about costs
with the surgeon before you make any commitment to surgery.
Each member of the New Zealand Foundation for Cosmetic Plastic
Surgery sets their own fees and the fees may vary widely between
members.
The total fee you will pay varies with
several factors including:
- the procedure you are
undertaking
- how extensive your surgery will
be
- your medical history and examination findings.
Some procedures can be performed under either
local anaesthetic in the surgeon’s office facility, or under
general anaesthetic in a private hospital theatre. This will
significantly influence the total cost.
Your surgeon will advise you if separate
accounts will be sent to you from the anaesthetist and the
hospital.
Compare fees between surgeons. Higher fees
do not necessarily mean the surgeon is more skilled.
As cosmetic surgery is an elective procedure
it is not usually covered by personal health insurance.
However, there may be some exceptions to this so check with your
surgeon and insurance company before surgery.
Also, check to see if a deposit or full
payment of the surgical fee is required before the operation.
