PROCEDURES
Full procedure descriptions are beyond the intended scope of this web
site, however the New Zealand Foundation for Cosmetic Plastic Surgery
has produced an excellent consumer's guide to cosmetic plastic surgery
in New Zealand, "Your complete guide to cosmetic plastic surgery - the
only authorised, expert guide to cosmetic plastic surgery in New
Zealand". Each of the main cosmetic surgical procedures is covered in
depth by this fully indexed 230 page publication; alternative sources of
information include the member's personal web sites.
Experts from the opening paragraphs of a few of the book's procedure
chapters appears below.
Abdominoplasty
Colloquially referred to as a '' tummy tuck', the modern
abdominoplasty
frequently uses two surgical procedures in tandem to flatten and
recontour the abdomen. The first procedure is a ' lower transverse
excision', which involves the surgical tightening of the underlying
muscles in the middle of the abdomen and the removal of fat and excess
skin. Today, this operation is often combined with a second procedure,
liposuction of the abdomen, waist and hips, to achieve the best possible
results.

Breast Reduction
Oversized breasts can cause very real physical problems such as
chronic
neck, upper back and shoulder pain, or even postural deformities and
breathing difficulties. For these women, breast reduction surgery is
often considered a practical health solution. Combine these physical
factors with the psychological, emotional and aesthetic burden of having
oversized breasts and you can understand why plastic surgeons and
patients alike say that the breast reduction procedure can produce life
changing results. Women who seek the surgery say that they are tired of
suffering embarrassment or harassment because of their breast size.
Many of these women have endured teasing and unwelcome attention since
puberty. Perhaps the size of their breasts has adversely affected their
relationships, socially and sexually. It may have severely limited their
ability to exercise or play sport due to pain, chafing and rashes.
Simple tasks like shopping for clothes may have become a source of
depression, as breast size limits the style of clothing that can be worn
and many garments simply don't fit. For these women, undergoing a breast
reduction offers the opportunity to have a normal life. Women who have
had this operation frequently say that it was the best thing that they
ever have done for themselves and their only regret is that they didn't
do it sooner.

Rhinoplasty -- cosmetic nose surgery
Remodelling the nose, or rhinoplasty, can be used to resolve a
variety
of concerns. The procedure may focus on straightening the nose, reducing
its size, removing a bump, or building up the bridge line with a graft
of bone or cartilage. Frequently, achieving the right nose shape
requires a combination of these things. The need for nose remodelling
may be the result of an accident. However, changes can also occur
naturally during the adolescent growth spurt. Frequently, a hump
develops on the nasal bridge. In other cases it is the nasal tip which
may cause problems, by being large and ill-defined. Often, a genetic
predisposition to an unattractive 'family nose' becomes the cause of
self-consciousness and embarrassment. All these conditions can be helped
by the rhinoplasty procedure.
